David Fletcher Race Report – Sunday 11th June.
Update for Sundays 4th round of the British XC series at Dalby Forest on the coast of Yorkshire. A course I’ve had a lot of luck and good results from I went in confident and hoped for a solid result. With form progressing nicely I went off the start quickly. I was soon on the front and driving a hard pace.
The pace soon picked out the stronger riders and a nice group of 4 were off the front.
The laps went by and we were joined by 2 more riders. Coming into the 4th lap I was hit by an untimely mechanical, losing valuable seconds on the other leading riders I set to bring them back. Working hard I clawed my wayback. By this point 2 riders had broke away and gained time quickly. Being at the back and some tight sections looming I was unable to make it upto the lead.
A silly overtaking move from a rider in the group for 3rd pushed me off the bike and off course.
I chewed away at the time but it just wasnt enough. Catching one rider I settled for 4th.
A pleasing result and knowing it wasnt a clean run race I can take alot of positives. Showing good form I know good results are only round the corner.
With the nationals being a flat / rolling course it should set me well on the hunt for that best of British jersey.
With thanks to Sherwood Pines Cycles, Forme Bicycles and Vittoria Tyres.
