Sherwood Pines Cycles are organising Round 1 of the National Points Series to be held in the forest the weekend of 24 / 25th March 2012, this event is now published on the British Cycling web site, always popular this event has been sold out for the past two years. With 2012 being an Olympic year this event will be held under UCI rules as it is an Olympic qualifier, so expect to see some world class mountain bikers.
A new 6k course has been developed with the help of the Forestry Commission, cutting new sections and making use of little used trails the course is fast and furious in places, technical and lung busting in others. It has already got the thumbs up from British Cycling! You can follow its progression on the facebook page 'National Points Series Round 1 Sherwood Pines'
New for this year is a Pro Sprint Eliminator knock out competition, run on the same format as the highly sucessful 'Pro Sprint Eliminator' at Pickering on the Friday evening before the Dalby World Cup. Briefly 4 riders (as in 4 X) Race eachother over a very short course - the race is over in about a minute, the winner goes onto the next round and so on until 4 riders are left to battle it out for substancial cash prizes.
Its a great spectator event which will be run around the main event arena, so all can cheer on their favourites.
