
Sherwood Pines Cycles offer mountain bike instruction courses for beginners and intermediate cyclists!
Level 1 - Basic
The aim of this course is to introduce the participant to the basic techniques required in off-road mountain biking. Completion of this course, will equip the participant with the skills necessary to successfully ride many of the permissible natural and purpose-built trails in the UK and Europe The course will develop the rider's ability and confidence and will also introduce and reinforce safety awareness.
Level 2 - Intermediate
The aim of this course is to develop existing skills and to introduce new ones. You will be tackling advanced rocky/technical cross country terrain. Completion of this course will equip the participant with the skills necessary to successfully ride the majority of natural cross country / purpose-built trails throughout the UK and Europe.
The instructors
You will be instructed on the day by one of our trained MIAS Mountain bike instructors, insuring that you get the best guidance possible. All our guides have been taught by Dave Youngs, a qualified mountain bike coach, Dave is the MIAS provider. He has mountain biked extensively worldwide, as the group leader, organising and participating in numerous expeditions and also holds the following relevant qualifications –
Dave has been teaching for the last 15 years to a wide variety of the general public, from beginner to advanced levels.
Kids
Our kids mountain bike courses are similar to the basic skills Course but tailored towards kids abilities.

Correct bike set up
basic rider positioning
Going uphill
Getting downhill
Cornering
Drops offs
Front wheel lifts and bunnyhops
Balance techniques to improve your riding
All courses run 10am till approx 4pm, a packed lunch is included, the course caters for ages 8 to 17 years.
